1. Your Current Role and Career Journey

I’ve been in the marketing field for over 22 years, and it's been a journey of constant growth and learning. I've worked across a variety of industries, each bringing its own set of challenges and opportunities. Though I’ve had my fair share of hiccups and bumps along the way, these experiences have shaped me and taught me valuable lessons about adaptability, creativity, and perseverance.

2. How Did Your Time at AUS Shape Your Career?

My time at AUS was instrumental in shaping my career, especially in terms of learning responsibility and independence. It was the first time I had to manage my own schedule, balance priorities, and take ownership of my decisions. That foundation of independence helped me take on leadership roles later in my career with confidence.

3. Could You Share Some Standout Memories from Your Time at AUS?

One of the best things about my time at AUS was the lifelong friendships I made; a lot of the connections I built there have remained with me till today.

4. What’s a Career Moment You’re Most Proud Of?

A career moment I’m particularly proud of was excelling into the role of Marketing Head at DHL at a relatively young age. Being entrusted with such a significant leadership role early on was unexpected and one that I'll be eternally grateful for, since it really solidified my career in marketing.

5. Have You Ever Faced a Major Challenge in Your Career, and How Did You Overcome It?

Yes, I’ve had my share of challenges, including working with bad bosses and experiencing unemployment twice. The key to overcoming these challenges has always been perseverance, staying focused on my goals, and finding new opportunities, even when things seemed tough.

6. What’s a Common Misconception About Your Industry?

A common misconception about marketing is that “anyone can do it.” While many people may think marketing is just about creating catchy ads or campaigns, the reality is much more strategic. Effective marketing requires deep understanding, creativity, and data-driven insights, which can take years to hone.

7. Advice for AUS Students About to Graduate?

My advice to AUS students about to graduate is that it's not only up to employers to pick you – you also have the right and the choice to pick them. Don’t be afraid to make sure a potential employer aligns with your values and goals. It’s a two-way street, and you deserve to work somewhere that will support your growth.

8. What Inspired You to Pursue Your Field?

I didn’t start out in marketing. I actually studied something entirely different in college. However, my first job as an event manager opened my eyes to marketing, and I quickly realised I had a knack for it. From there, my interest grew, and it helped me build a successful career in the field.

9. What Was Your Experience Like Studying in Switzerland, and How Did It Influence Your Personal or Professional Growth?

Studying in Switzerland was the most life-changing experience I’ve had. It taught me independence and responsibility like never before. The experience gave me a global perspective, exposed me to different cultures, and helped me grow both personally and professionally in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
