AUS Gains Insight from the European University Association's Green Deal Roadmap Event

In a strategic move to align with global sustainability initiatives, the American Institute of Applied Sciences in Switzerland (AUS) participated as a listener in the European University Association's (EUA) event on December 4, unveiling its groundbreaking report, "A Green Deal Roadmap for Universities."

The event, held from 14:00 to 15:30 CET, featured prominent discussants, including representatives from the European Commission and the esteemed Bruegel think tank. Their insightful deliberations centered on the challenges and opportunities universities face in contributing to the European Green Deal and how the newly introduced roadmap can guide their efforts.

AUS, committed to environmental stewardship and sustainability, engaged in the event to glean inspiration and insights on how to make substantial contributions to the Green
Deal. The wide-ranging ambitions of the European Green Deal were discussed as a policy framework to integrate scientific, educational, and institutional dimensions into universities' role in the green transition.

During the event, the roadmap was highlighted as a comprehensive guide outlining processes and interventions that can elevate universities' impact and visibility in working
towards a climate-neutral, environmentally sustainable, and socially equitable Europe. The discussions emphasized the varying degrees of relevance and urgency for universities in optimizing internal processes, undertaking external interventions, and strategic planning.

The roadmap presented valuable strategies that universities can implement over an extensive timeframe, making effective contributions to climate and environmental challenges while serving as exemplars of sustainable communities. AUS, inspired by these discussions, is poised to leverage these insights to enhance its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
