AUS at the European Quality Assurance Forum 2024

American Institute of Applied Sciences in Switzerland (AUS)’s Quality Assurance Director and Dean of Academics proudly participated in the European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF) 2024, hosted by the University of Twente in the Netherlands. This year’s forum, centered on the theme “Internationalisation and Cooperation in QA”, brought together thought leaders from across Europe to discuss innovations and challenges in quality assurance in higher education.
Aligning mission with Quality Assurance: Dr. Prisacariu’s contributions
Dr. Anca Prisacariu, Director of Quality Assurance, and Dr. Gaidi Faraj, Dean of Academics at AUS, played active roles in the forum. Dr. Prisacariu, nominated by EURASHE, chaired the opening plenary session titled “Quality Across the Missions: Mission Impossible or Mission Accomplished?”, which set the stage for discussions on how quality assurance frameworks can support the diverse missions of higher education institutions.

She also moderated two sessions that explored timely topics:
  • “Generative Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education”, presented by Gvantsa Dzidziguri, examined the role of QA in managing AI integration in education.
  • “Service Learning and QA”, led by Berta Paz Lourido, highlighted how collaborative approaches like service learning can strengthen quality assurance practices.
These sessions brought important conversations to the forefront, reflecting AUS’s focus on addressing contemporary challenges in education.
Technology, AI, and the future of QA
In another highlight, Dr. Gaidi Faraj contributed to a plenary session titled “QA and Technology: Challenges from AI”. This session explored the impact of artificial intelligence on educational systems and the evolving role of QA in ensuring standards are maintained amid rapid technological advancements. Dr. Faraj’s insights emphasized the importance of adapting traditional frameworks to meet future challenges.
Engaging with the global QA Community
The EQAF 2024 provided AUS with an opportunity to engage with global experts, share perspectives, and strengthen its commitment to international collaboration. The forum’s focus on cooperation and innovation aligns with AUS’s mission to foster academic excellence and forward-thinking practices.
Looking ahead: EQAF 2025 in Budapest
AUS looks forward to continuing its active participation in the global quality assurance community, with the next EQAF set to take place in Budapest, Hungary in 2025. By contributing to such events, AUS reaffirms its dedication to advancing the standards of higher education and driving meaningful change in the sector.
