Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program at the American University of Applied Sciences Institute in Switzerland (AUS) provides students with opportunities to build the necessary skills for the future with a deep understanding of business and technological trends on a global scale and with hands-on experience via close links to the industry. At this first level of study, AUS students earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree that qualifies them for a profession in business management and the opportunity to continue their studies further and earn a Master of International Business Administration degree.

At AUS, we focus on integrating traditional business knowledge with practical decision-
making, problem-solving, creativity, and strategic thinking while engaging in real-world
projects. We create a learning environment that emphasizes collaboration and team

The curriculum takes the approach of the full development of the individual, placing emphasis on personal as well as professional growth. It prepares students for both career and graduate studies.

All courses are taught in English by leading business visionaries in small dynamic cohorts. Our professors have experience in successful business ventures, providing our students with real-life lessons learned and best practices. This background allows our professors to share their challenges and successes with the students, giving them a front-line education focused on experiential and student-centered learning. Our faculty-student ratio is roughly 1-7, facilitating a deeper working relationship between students and professors coupled with feedback and coaching. Each course integrates a minimum of two experiential learning activities, such as simulations, case studies, individual and group presentations, and projects.

When a BSBA student successfully completes the Dual Degree program, the student will graduate, in their chosen specialty, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from AUS and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from TU. Tiffin University has US Higher Learning Commission accreditation, which is recognized by most ministries of education.

Dual Degree Accreditations

Dual Degree Structure

In order to receive dual degrees, students must successfully complete the required AUS and TU courses. The curricula are mixtures of AUS and TU courses designed to provide students with the maximum exposure to the necessary knowledge and skills for the future workplace, emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, research technologies, and multimodal communication methods.
The TU programs are all online with videos, discussion rooms, readings, and other assignments. For the most part, the students will be in the same class as TU students, thus enabling interaction. Students will take both AUS and TU courses to complete their required coursework. Courses will be taught on campus and remotely, with the possibility of student exchanges to either university.

Program Structure
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) is a three-year program during which the student must obtain 135 credit hours | 180 European Credit Transfer System. The three-year program structure comprises nine academic terms, with three terms per year (Fall, Winter, and Spring). A standard course of study to complete a BSBA program over three years requires the completion of thirty core courses, including the capstone, twelve specialization courses, and four elective courses.

The provision of these Elective courses in a particular term will depend on availability; the listing of courses offered may change from year to year.

Note: A set of three foundation courses is offered to students who need additional proficiency in English communication, Math, and applied IT.

The conferring of a degree follows only after completing all the following requirements:

• Academic credit requirements - a minimum of 135 CH | 180 ECTS.
• Academic performance requirements - a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
• Capstone project: a business plan delivered in the final year.
• Attendance and residency requirements.

Students have the opportunity, when available, to work with professors on research initiatives and program activities surrounding their specialization for credit-earning opportunities.

Engage & Explore

This course is the first of the required three-course sequence in the general education curriculum for qualifying transfer students. Emphasis is placed on helping each transfer student successfully acclimate to Tiffin University by building campus connections, encouraging professionalism, and improving academic success in the areas of communication, research, and critical thinking. In addition, students will develop competence and proficiency in research techniques, critical analysis, problem-solving, multimodal communication methods, and professional networking. The course aims to assist students with their sense of identity and belonging within a community through engagement and exploration of multiple cultural perspectives in order to better recognize and understand issues related to societal problems. Rigorous academic curriculum and experiential learning structures using integrative teaching and learning practices are included in this course. The purpose of this course is to facilitate experiences for students that lead them to make connections between classroom studies and life outside the classroom in a way that transforms theory into practice.

Connect

This is the third of a required four-course sequence in the General Education curriculum. Emphasis is placed on students applying critical analysis, problem-solving, research techniques, and multimodal communication methods in order to question assumptions, hypotheses, and evidence.

The course aims to assist students with their understanding of how culture affects and influences their identity and their interactions within societal organizations. Rigorous academic curriculum and experiential learning structures using integrative teaching and learning practices are included in this course. The purpose of this course is to facilitate experiences for students that lead them to make connections between classroom studies and life outside the classroom in a way that transforms theory into practice.
Impact
This is a capstone experience and the final class of a required four-course sequence in the General Education curriculum. Students will present cumulative work from their experiences in prior courses with emphasis placed on students’ integration and synthesis of their acquired skills in problem-solving, multimodal communication methods, professional networking, critical analysis, and research techniques.

The course aims to assist students with developing a sense of agency and responsibility for engagement within society. Rigorous academic curriculum and experiential learning structures using integrative reaching and learning practices are included in this course. The purpose of this course is to facilitate experiences for students that lead them to make connections between classroom studies and life outside the classroom in a way that transforms theory into practice.
Impact ePortfolio
This course is the required lab component for the fourth course in the four-course sequence in the General Education curriculum. Emphasis is placed on the synthesis of knowledge gained from professional and academic experiences at Tiffin University through reflection that exhibit the skills associated with the general education curriculum as aligned with the institutional core competencies: critical analysis; problem-solving; research techniques; and multimodal communication methods.

The lab component is designed to give students the time and guided structure necessary to compile data and create the necessary synthesized connections in order to document competence and proficiency in learned skills in an ePortfolio.
Organizational Strategy
An advanced course designed to integrate the functional concepts and techniques from the foundation courses in the curriculum. It provides the student with a thorough appreciation of the role of the general manager, with emphasis on strategy formulation and implementation. This is a writing intensive course.
Principles of Athlete Development
This course explores the physical, psychological, and emotional aspects of development for athletic performance at the youth & interscholastic, recreation and leisure, intercollegiate, professional, and elite level. Issues will also address athlete development influenced by substance abuse, career-transition, and off-field behaviors.
Supervision in Sports
This course explores the responsibilities and duties of sport supervisors in the youth, scholastic, collegiate, club, and professional sectors on a national and global scale.
Facilities Design and Management
Provides dynamic models and options for planning, maintaining, and managing sport & entertainment facilities in the present and future. Concentration is on the design, maintenance, and full utilization of facilities that are realistic, cost efficient, environmentally sound and aesthetically pleasing. Topics include design, construction, refurbishing, finance options, risk assessment, risk management, security, operations, and procedures.
Business of Sports (waive SMG 160)
Course covers topics relating to league structures, the management of sporting clubs, branding and pricing, sponsorship, media contracting, financial valuation and facilities development in a variety of sport settings. The primary method of instruction is case development and analysis. This is a writing intensive course.
Sports Governance and Administration
This course will examine the role of governance in sports while emphasizing the need for ethical behavior and a managerial approach to effectively lead organizations. The scope of the course includes an overview of public and private agencies governing sports on a global, national, and local stage while addressing leadership, policy, and governance structures throughout sectors of the industry.
Sports Analytics
The focus of this class is applying analytic techniques to the decisions that athletes, coaches, general managers, and other decision makers encounter in the sports world. Tools used in the class will include statistics, probability, regression analysis and hypothesis testing.
Revenue Generation and Sponsorship
This course presents a wide range of views with what it takes to be successful in the field. The goal is to move from a theoretical perspective to a practical view of sport revenue generation, sales management and service, sales training, the art of ticket sales, customer retention, branding, and risk management. Students will learn how to grasp the fundamental concepts of revenue generation, sponsorship, and branding. Students will participate in a ticket sales training program with a professional baseball team.
